Morgoth - Breana Melvin (x)
Quick random Morgoth painting. My first time drawing the character. I’ll have to draw him a few more times to really get a look I’m satisfied with though.
This Morgoth is probably post-Ungoliant, when he returns to Beleriand and sets himself up in Angband after stealing the Silmarils. There’s a lot of red in the armor, even though I imagine it as black. I guess I just like the feeling of fire reflecting off of it.
Unfinished Silmarillion Work - Justin Gerard
Eldar of the First Age (x)
A family tree featuring the major and minor elves of the First Age of Middle-earth. (A high-res version can be downloaded at the source link).
I’ve been slowly working on this on and off for the past several months, and it’s finally done! However, I did grow a lot as an artist over the course of that time period, and as such there are some inconsistencies in terms of style; I went back over an corrected some of this; it’s still there, but I know it’s time to walk away from this one.
This started out mainly as a reference sheet of simple thumbnail versions of the heads of these characters. Some of these represent the first time I’ve drawn a particular character, while others I have drawn several times; in all cases they’re sure to evolve and change the more I draw them.
Finally inking the final page of these (this is the fourth page, but the other pages had more faces on them). I’ve already colored most of the other three pages, but the way I drew these changed over time, so I’m going to have to go back over a few of them for continuity’s sake.
Luckily, this family tree is only elves (with the few exceptions of Beren, Tuor, and Aragorn for obvious reasons) or I’d probably never finish
